I am the founder and owner of CMS Law Firm LLC, Seattle's exclusive DUI defense
law firm. I started this firm with one goal in mind, to give my clients the best
representation possible. Through my experience as a criminal defense lawyer I've
learned a couple of things about choosing a lawyer. First, there are people out
there that don't perform as promised. And second, having a good lawyer on your side
can be the difference between a terrible outcome and a great one.
My motivation for success comes from two areas: client satisfaction and competitive
fire. I know that every time someone chooses me to represent them they are putting
their livelihood in my hands. If that weren't enough motivation to give my best
effort every day, I also have an inner fire to win at everything I do. That guarantees
you're getting my best every single day.
Just wanting to be the best, however, doesn't produce results. Experience is key,
and I've got it. I've handled many DUI and other criminal cases in the Seattle area
and never back down from a battle. During my career I've had the opportunity to
be a part of several high impact cases, including the recent litigation related
to the admissibility of breath tests in King County. My client's case was one of
the two that resulted in the decision by King County judges to continue suppressing
breath tests that could not be deemed reliable.
Although I'm plenty experienced, the competitive fire prevents me from becoming
lazy. Every day I work on my skills to become a better trial attorney and set aside
time devoted to honing my knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, breath
test science, field sobriety tests, and conducting jury trials. My motto is "if
you aren't moving forward you're falling behind" and I work every day to become
the best DUI and criminal lawyer I can.
In addition to my individual study, I've surrounded myself with many other great
criminal defense minds. I'm a member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense
Attorneys, one of the best in the country, and am also a member of the National
College for DUI Defense, an organization steeped in tradition. These resources help
me stay ahead of the game, and ahead of the prosecution.
My life isn't all about criminal defense though. When I do have time away from the
courtroom and clients I like to spend it with my wife on the golf course or at sporting
events. You're also likely to find me out exploring the city or hiking Mt. Si when
the weather permits.
